Faculty of Health Sciences

Dr. Gage is a Professor in the School of Kinesiology of Health Science at York University (Toronto, Canada). He previously served as Associate Dean, Research and Innovation, in the Faculty of Health at York University (2011-15), and as Associate Vice President, Teaching and Learning (2015-209). His research is broadly focused on neuromuscular mechanisms of balance and gait, and the impact of aging and pathology in balance and gait changes and falls risk. Dr Gage and his graduate students, with collaborators in computer science and electrical and mechanical engineering, are currently focused on the use of mobile technology and machine learning in measuring gait behaviour and using nonlinear measures to explore mechanisms in the control of locomotion. These studies will extend to understanding the impact of knee and hip osteoarthritis, and joint replacement surgery on gait.
