Dr. Alan Kingstone (PhD, FRSC) is interested in the brain mechanisms of human behaviour in real world situations. He is a Professor and Distinguished Scholar in the Department of Psychology at UBC and serves as the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Advisor in the Office of the VPRI. He is also the Director of the Brain, Attention, and Reality Lab at UBC which applies a multidisciplinary approach to studying human behaviour, cognition, and attention in complex settings. Their efforts in the lab include, but are not limited to, natural observation, mental chronometry, and functional neuroimaging research. That this multidisciplinary work exists within a single research laboratory is one of the BarLab's tremendous strengths.
