I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the International Collaboration On Repair Discoveries (ICORD), University of British Columbia (UBC), in the laboratory of Dr. Tania Lam. My current research focuses on how sensory inputs from the leg muscles modulate pelvic floor muscle activity in people with and without spinal cord injury. Pelvic floor muscles play an important role in bladder function. The neural connections between the pelvic floor muscle and leg muscles were observed in animal research before. By examining this neural connection in human participants, we can develop more effective rehabilitation approaches to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and improve bladder function.
When I am not doing research, you will find me either running on some trails in the great Vancouver area or slurping a bowl of ramen in a ramen restaurant :)
