Xueqing Zhou
PhD Student
School of Kinesiology
Sept 2023 - Fall 2027
Xueqing (pronounced as Shwey-Ching) completed her BKin (2021) and MSc (2023) in Kinesiology at UBC. Her research interests are centered around the neurophysiology and neurorehabilitation of the pelvic floor muscles (PFM), a group of muscles engaged during various postural and respiratory tasks and crucial for bladder control. Her MSc thesis examined PFM activity during exoskeleton-assisted walking in people with spinal cord injury. During her PhD, she plans to focus on investigating the descending neural control of the PFM, while exploring other areas of interest (vestibular sense, wearable sensors).
In her spare time, she enjoys road cycling and creating artworks. To combine her artistic creativity and research interest, she completed a certificate in Biomedical Visualization and Communication in 2023, and continues to explore effective ways of data visualization, research knowledge sharing, and scientific communication.
