Webinar: Preventing fall-related injuries in older adults: Using video evidence to inform practical interventions
May 14, 2019, 9:00 am to 10:30 am
Falls account for up to 80% of traumatic brain injuries in older adults. In this webinar, we will discuss how we are using evidence from videos of real-life falls in older adults who live in long-term care, to guide the design of strategies to reduce the risk for fall-related head impact and injury. Webinar participants will learn about clinical, physical and situational factors that affect risk for fall-related head impact, and about how our understanding of these factors informs novel methods for simulating falls and evaluating protective headgear, and recommendations for practices and programs that target head injury prevention. This webinar will also include a brief introduction to AGE-WELL NCE -- Canada's Network for Technology and Aging, and a funding source for our research on falls and injury prevention in older adults.
