Trainee Workshop - Systematic, Scoping, & Other Reviews: An Introduction to the Methodology

March 11, 2022, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Zoom

Thank you to Vanessa Kitchin and Wendy Traas for hosting a workshop on systematic reviews!

On March 11th the OBDAF Cluster Workshop Coordinators welcomed Vanessa Kitchin, Southern Medical Program Librarian, and Wendy Traas, Education Librarian, to host a workshop on "Systematic, Scoping, & Other Reviews". Vanessa gave an in-depth introduction to different types of reviews, and the kinds of research questions each may be suited to. Cluster members and trainees learned more about the guidelines, methodology, and protocols behind these reviews. Key resources, tools, and tips were shared to help manage reviews and stay organized. Vanessa and Wendy then kindly took specific questions from attendees regarding their own research questions and reviews.

Thank you Vanessa and Wendy for your time hosting the event and valuable experience and insight you shared. Thank you to all the cluster members and trainees that made it to the event, we hope it was a useful training opportunity that will inform your future work!

If you have any specific questions about resources shared during the workshop, please reach out to the Workshop Coordinators at obdafresearchcluster@gmail.com

If you are planning to conduct a systematic, scoping, or rapid review, this workshop is for you. It is designed to introduce the key principles of systematic reviews and explain the essential steps of planning and preparing a systematic review.

This workshop will be hosted virtually by Vanessa Kitchin of the Southern Medical Program at UBC-O and Wendy Traas, Education Librarian, on Friday March 11 from 1-2:30pm.

Join us for a high-level overview of the systematic review methodology, including key steps, guidelines and protocols, and tools to help you stay organized. Participants will gain an understanding of how a systematic review can (or can’t!) be applied to their own research. This is also a great opportunity to meet trainees from other labs within the cluster!
