Summer 2022 Workshop Series - Wearable Sensors
May 30, 2022, 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Thank you to cluster trainee Liam Foulger for hosting a workshop on Wearable Sensors!
On May 30, 2022, the OBDAF Cluster workshop coordinators kicked off the Summer 2022 Workshop Series! We welcomed cluster student Liam Foulger to host a workshop on Wearable Sensors. Liam provided background information on wearable sensing and different types of sensors currently available to research labs. Liam walked the trainees through pros and cons of different systems, discussing considerations such as sensor programming, filtering, accuracy, portability, ease of use, and overall cost. Liam then demonstrated a full-body sensor set-up with a volunteer, including calibration procedures and signal characteristics. Thank you to all trainees that made it to the event, we hope it was a useful training opportunity that will inform your future work!
Interested in wearable sensing and how it can be applied to your research projects?
To start off our summer series of different skills/techniques demonstrations, we will be hosting a small workshop on wearable sensing. The workshop will be lead by MSc student Liam Foulger, who has great experience with IMUs in his own research. We will have some inertial measurement units to try out & will demonstrate some of the cool things you can do with them! Please feel free to invite any undergraduates in your labs as well.
