We are delighted to announce that OBDAF cluster members Drs. Jean-Sébastien Blouin and Michael Hunt have been awarded funding of the Program for Undergraduate Research Experience (PURE) from UBC for an initiative: “Undergraduate Research Rotation in Balance Assessment and Rehabilitation”.
The initiative will provide undergraduate students with a novel, multidisciplinary research experience within a number of world leading balance laboratories that belong to the Origins of Balance Deficits and Falls (OBDAF) Research Cluster at UBC. Collaborative and multidisciplinary research training at both UBC campuses will be emphasized as well as the promotion of equity, diversity, and inclusion. The undergraduate students will interact with researchers from the OBDAF cluster, capitalizing on well-established networking and integrated research capabilities, theoretical backgrounds, and institutions. The 2-term program involves an initial 4-month rotation of experiential learning modules in 5+ OBDAF affiliated labs, followed by a funded work placement as a summer research assistant in one of the OBDAF labs. Through the program, undergraduate students will acquire skills necessary for their success in a variety of future careers, including industrial, clinical, and academic fields.
Stay tuned for more details on applications and deadlines for the program!
