
The OBDAF cluster is hiring for a Business Development Assistant position for the summer!
We are a group of researchers working together to study the mechanistic principles of healthy balance control and origins of balance deficits and falls in order to develop new tools, therapeutic interventions and technologies to reduce the likelihood and impact of balance instability and falls. We are aiming to enhance our research capacity through growing ties with industry, non-governmental and clinical partners. The primary focus of the Business Development Assistant will be to scan for and identify potential partnership opportunities for the OBDAF cluster and to secure and build strong ties with these partners.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Become familiar with the research performed by cluster members in order to identify strategic and effective partners.
- Conduct a formal business scan for potential industrial, financial and NGO partners that could be approached to pursue collaborative research projects and/or for funding.
- Develop a strategic business plan for the Research Cluster and clearly identify top strategies for growth and sustainability.
- Promote the research carried out by members of the cluster and its goals and objectives to potential partners.
- Contact potential partners and work on securing partnerships and building strong ties between the cluster and partner organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidate must be a UBC undergraduate student enrolled in a business development-related program.
- Must be willing to commit at least 3 days per week to be on-site in the workspace provided.
- Must have knowledge required to conduct a thorough search of potential partners and prepare a strategic plan.
- Must have the knowledge to develop and implement a sustainable strategy for the future of the Research Cluster.
- Candidates must have exceptional communication and organizational skills and be extremely detail and process orientated.
- Previous experience in initiating and maintaining partner relations is preferred.
