Vicki Komisar is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering with the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia - Okanagan Campus. She completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at SFU.

Vicki uses the tools of biomechanics to understand how people interact with their environment to maintain balance and avoid falls and fall-related injuries, and uses this evidence to inform recommendations for safer built environment and assistive technology design, especially for older adults. Her research findings have informed building codes, product design standards, and occupational safety guidelines related to preventing falls in an aging workforce.
