Heather Pudwell
MSc Student
Kinesiology
2021 September - 2023 December
After completing her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Brock University in 2019, Heather moved to Vancouver in 2021 to start her MSc Kinesiology degree in the Neural Control of Posture and Movement Lab at UBC under the supervision of Dr. Mark Carpenter. Her first project in the lab investigated the effects of height-induced postural threat on whole-body and upper-limb postural control. In September 2021, Heather was a recipient of the Faculty of Education Graduate Award and the R. Howard Webster Foundation Fellowship.
Heather proposed her MSc thesis in April 2023, and is planning to defend in December 2023. This project is investigating how chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) affects static and dynamic balance, as well as if/how a common treatment for CIDP affects patients’ balance.
