2022 September - 2024
Josh completed his Bachelor of Science degree (in General Science, minors in Biology and Chemistry) in 2020 at Mount Royal University (MRU) in Calgary, AB. Over the summer of 2019, Josh developed a protocol using a novel combination of stochastic vestibular stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation to investigate the relationship between vestibular and cerebellar reflexes in standing balance. This work was presented at the 2019 NeuroHike meeting in Jasper, AB, the 2019 MRU Faculty of Science and Technology Research Days, and in abstract format for the 2020 Experimental Biology conference in San Diego, CA. Josh has also conducted research in cerebrovascular physiology in which he helped lead a study looking at the effects of acute bouts of hypocapnia on neurovascular coupling in young healthy adults. Josh’s current research in the Neural Control of Posture and Movement Lab, under the supervision of Dr. Mark Carpenter, is investigating how height-induced postural threat affects vestibular perception of rotation.
