Solenne Villemer
MSc Student
Kinesiology
2022 September - 2025 May
Solenne completed her B.Sc. in Neuroscience at the University of Montreal (QC, Canada). In the summer 2022, she moved to Vancouver to start her MSc in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC, Canada).
Solenne's thesis examines the contribution of the vestibular system to sensori-motor adaptation during dynamic postural control. Using electrical vestibular stimulation (EVS) to perturb balance, Solenne studies how participants adapt their forward lean movements across repeated trials and upon removal of the stimulation.
Beyond her thesis work, Solenne has been investigating the habituation of vestibular-evoked balance responses after repeated exposure to a postural threat. As well as presenting her research at the Neural Control of Movement satellite meeting (Victoria, April 2023) and the Neurorehabilitation conference (Vancouver, March 2024), Solenne’s contributions have led to a co-first authored manuscript in the Journal of Physiology
Solenne will be completing her M.Sc. by May 2025 and is seeking industry opportunities to apply her research expertise.
