Xiangwei Zhang

MSc Student

Kinesiology

2022 September - 2024 September

Xiangwei is passionate about the intersection of technology and human health. She earned her bachelor's degree in Interactive Art and Technology from Simon Fraser University, where she worked on projects related to human body interfaces and wearable devices for rehabilitation. Xiangwei believes that technologies like virtual reality and wearables have enormous potential in medical contexts and that they should be designed with a deep understanding of the human body.

To further explore these interests, Xiangwei is pursuing a Master of Science in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia, starting in the fall of 2022. In addition to her academic pursuits, Xiangwei is an ACE-certified personal trainer and an SSI-certified free diving instructor. She has enjoyed skiing, running, bodybuilding, and free diving. While an injury temporarily sidelined her athletic pursuits, it only strengthened her resolve to learn more about how technology can help people recover and maintain their physical abilities.

Xiangwei's research interests lie at the intersection of VR, postural control, and standing balance.
